Elon Musk, whose company SpaceX recently did a successful voyage of Mars, had tweeted in 2020, “Who controls the memes, controls the Universe.” 10 years from that and in 2030 we are seeing Foolish, a company which started as meme dealer is becoming the most valuable media and marketing company in the world. We were all seeing this coming from a very long time. As corporate marketing was losing the most important element of marketing, which is creativity. And creators across the globe just did not like to work in big corporates which controls their thoughts. Corporate Marketing in anyways was always boring.
Seeing opportunity in this, Foolish started as group of some rebel memers, who united and start producing counterculture memes in early 2020s. That was the time when power concentration of the global money used to be with influential banks and Wall Street. By the way, the real estate rates of Wall Street have gone less than that of Madagascar from some time, rock bottom.
The early content of Foolish focussed extensively on crypto movement and power decentralisation to the common people across the globe. It really was time like 1975, when some counterculture rebels created the PC revolution in the world. People started taking memes very seriously after 2021 historic GameStop short squeeze, in which some Redditors made tremors in Wall Street by taking the stock price of GameStop to the moon. That event still makes me laugh, hehe. That whole event was centered around memes, people started calling those companies meme companies. Incidentally, Keith Gill, who was one of the key anchors of GameStop short squeeze, became one of the early investors in Foolish.
The biggest aha moment for Foolish came, when TriXy, an innovative apparel brand gave its entire marketing program to Foolish in 2022. Foolish made the best of this opportunity, and in just 2 years TriXy became world’s highest selling cloth brand. Since then a lot of great companies have moved to meme marketing as the most important part of their marketing programs. Salaries of memers have gone way beyond what it used to be of AI ML developers some 10 years back, and demand is just sky rocketing. Bran Duck, CEO of Foolish said, “ We believe this is just the beginning and the most important change that marketing world needed, we want to empower creative brains do what they love the most, and we think we would be able to change the world. We being the most valuable company is just one indicator of the beginning.”
As a tech historian I have seen some unbelievable events in last 15 years, be it iPhone, Crypto, or electric cars. Foolish becoming the most valuable company is special, as it also means work of creatives and artists is getting valued.
